About This Course
The Late Professor Wangari Maathai almost lost her life defending the environment, forests including Karura Forest which she called Nairobi’s “lungs,” and green spaces like Uhuru Park. Today, trees have never been more important. Afforestation (planting new trees) and reforestation (replanting trees where they previously existed) are considered forms of Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) because they enhance natural CO2 “sinks”. Tree planting and agroforestry is therefore an accessible and economical alternative to CDR technologies.
The Forestry sector is one of several sectors that require capital and capacity support. In this section, you will review how Climate Change impacts Kenya specifically and how increasingly finance is being allocated towards the country’s resilience through various sectors.
