Module II Session I: Introduction to E&S risks/impacts and how they translate to risk to the FI


The primary focus of this module is to introduce you to how your Client’s management of their environmental and social impacts can present a risk to your Bank. We also introduce you to a well established methodology that allows your Bank to both manage this risk but also play a role in encouraging better business practice by your Clients.

About This Course

The primary focus of this module is to introduce you to how your Client’s management of their environmental and social impacts can present a risk to your Bank. We also introduce you to a well established methodology that allows your Bank to both manage this risk but also play a role in encouraging better business practice by your Clients.

Specifically you will:

  1. Gain an understanding of what E&S impacts and risks are associated with client activities.
  2. Understand how these can translate into risks to your Bank.
  3. Learn how to address such risks in your credit review process with the integration of an environmental and social management system (ESMS).
  4. Be introduced to a financial valuation methodology which quantifies the value generated from mitigating E&S risks.
  5. Appreciate how your Bank can facilitate better business practice across your portfolio and contribute to more sustainable economic growth.

The Module comprises 3 sessions. They are:

Session 1: Introduction to Clients E&S risks/impacts and how they translate into risks to the Bank.

Session 2: Introduction to an environmental and social management system (ESMS) for Banks.

Session 3: Reflecting the value of E&S risk mitigation initiatives in financial models.
